More than any other place in Japan, Kyoto seems to have the most distinct and clearest differences between the four seasons. The city seems to be extremely hot and humid during the summer and very cold during winter. Summers can be as hot as 40 degrees Celsius while winters can be below zero degrees Celsius, with occasional snow.
For most of the year, Kyoto 's climate is generally temperate.
